A new update dropped last night for Pokémon GO. While Apple users would still have to wait for a few days, some Android users have sideloaded the update and have discovered something trainers have long waited for.
The good news? Trainers can now power up their Pokémon beyond level 39. The bad news? It can only power up to level 39.5.
This means that those who utilized the triple tap glitch will still have a higher max CP on their highest level Pokémon, since they can achieve level 40 status. However, for those who only play with one phone and cannot morally use three phones to achieve the level 40 plateau, this update takes it halfway there.
A powerup to level 39.5 would take 15 candies and 10,000 stardust. While trainers still cannot get their elusive 3355CP on their perfect Snorlax for instance, a step halfway to 3331CP isn’t so bad when it comes to sticking it in a gym to show off.
The newest update also includes several back-end fixes (and bugs…what’s new), but the max CP “half-fix” was definitely the major addition to this update.
