Pokémon GO Winnipeg and PegCity Raids Present Halloween Extravaganza!

Happy Halloween!

Pokémon GO Winnipeg and PegCity Raids are proud to announce the 1st annual Halloween Party Extravaganza, at the hub of pokémon in Winnipeg: St. Vital Park!

Date: Sunday October 29
Time: 5-8pm
Location: St. Vital Park
Lures: On us!

This isn’t just any party. We will be doing a potluck as well in the park, and everyone is welcome to bring food! We’re also gonna do a 50/50 draw for a chance to win some prizes. Most of all, the Team Rocket t-shirt has arrived, and we will have a draw for that too!

Sounds cool? Hope to see you this Sunday! PS: Costumes are optional, but highly recommended. It’s Halloween after all!

Shiny Duskull and Dusclops Released in Pokémon GO!

With the Halloween event a week old, trainers have been wondering when other shiny gen 3 pokémon will be released, since Shiny Sableye was immediately released once the event started.

At 4:31pm, username “kingbang” on the PegCity Raids Discord posted a photo of the Shiny Duskull he caught. The Silph Road further confirmed the release of Shiny Duskull, with numerous reports of it being caught by trainers across the world. Fortunately, Shiny Sableyes were still available, as there were confirmed sightings of them being still around.

Considering many trainers have likely caught all five of the released gen 3 pokémon and the witch hat Pikachu within the first day, the addition of shinies could provide a new challenge for those getting bored of the event.

The addition of Shiny Duskull and Dusclops means that trainers can catch or hatch 8 shiny pokémon: Pikachu, Raichu, Magikarp, Gyarados, Pichu, Duskull, Dusclops, and Sableye.

Would Shiny Shuppet and Banette be added before the Halloween event ends? Only time will tell.

Welcome to PegCity Trainers!

What is Pokémon Go?

Pokémon Go is a free-to-play, location-based augmented reality game developed by Niantic for iOS and Android devices. The game was the result of a collaboration between Niantic and Nintendo, by way of The Pokémon Company, and was initially released in selected countries in July 2016. The game utilizes the player’s mobile device’s GPS ability to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokémon, which appear on the screen as if they were at the same real-world location as the player. The game features a freemium business model and supports in-app purchases for additional in-game items. [1]

A Message from our Staff

Invy:

Hey, I’m Invy. I used to love Pokemon as a child. This included watching the first 3 generations on TV, playing the game-boy games, and collecting cards. I stopped keeping up with Pokemon for a long time but Pokemon Go got me interested again. Outside of Pokemon, I’m originally from Toronto but I move a lot. I love traveling and have traveled to various countries in every continent (except Antarctica) multiple times. Some other things I enjoy include: basketball, soccer, analytics, statistics, and social psychology.

Calvin:

Hi, I’m Calvin! Some of you might have seen me around the city at one point or another. I’ve watched all six generations of Pokemon on TV, and am currently watching Sun and Moon. Pokemon GO was a welcome addition to my good knowledge of the world of pocket monsters. Originally from Toronto, I moved to Winnipeg last year to do graduate studies at the University of Manitoba. While originally scared of the city’s reputation, I’ve grown to love Winnipeg and the diversity it offers. The addition of Pokemon GO made me get out more and interact with others who I otherwise would never know. Expect me to be the guardian of nest posts for the city, and hopefully…just hopefully I can finish one of my many projects intended to improve this awesome community.

Steven:
